Is the latest vending machine a chip off the old block?

For years company’s have been trying to replicate the perfect chip for people to eat in their own home.

But none can really beat those plump and tasty treats from your local fish and chip shop or for those partial to a French fry you can’t get better than the thin and crisp chips from your favourite fast food outlet.

However things might be set to change if a Belgian company’s latest invention takes off.

The vending machine dispenses frites cooked especially in beef dripping along with a sachet of ketchup or mayonnaise all for just €2.50.

Currently there is only one of the machines, based outside of a Brussels supermarket but plans are afoot to roll them out should people want a bite of the action.

Of course this isn't the first time a machine that offers hot food has been on the market.

For the last four years a company in Italy has been promoting it's free standing vending machine called Let's Pizza.

After a successful launch across Europe, the company has been trying to break into the competitive American market with its tempting offer of 10.5 inch crust pizzas with over 200 toppings to choose from and for as little as $5.95.

It certainly puts going to the machine at your work for a can of Coke and a packet of crisps to shame.

But is this the sign of the future? And can these machines produce as tasty food as you would get from the takeaways or restaurants?

It will be intriguing to see if chip machines catch on here over the coming months.

You never know, one day you might be able to get a battered Speyside Specialities white pudding to go with the chips from your machine!

Tell us your thoughts? Would you use machines like this if they became available? Or is it all a gimmick gone too far?
